Who knew Martinican street art would get Spike Lee’s attention?

That's the most refreshing story I've heard in the last few days. Xän is a street artist living in Martinique. He has managed to impose a trademark which includes the vegetal decor in his artwork. The result is astounding. He combines the bushy, thick and majestic foliage of a tree with black hair. To be honest, I think street artists are so talented. They manage to express their cultural identity on sections of everyday walls. They leave messages that connect the audience to each other while embellishing the urban space. So, back to the story, Xän chose a photo of Spike Lee from the 1994 film Crooklyn, which portrayed the daily life of a black family in  Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Check out the photo in the illustrations. The photo of Xan’s work was shared by Spike Lee himself, but also Pharell Williams and other influential black artists. This way of taking ownership of the environment, enhancing its beauty and showcasing black talent  is exactly what we need right now.

And you, tell me what do you think of street art?
