He is, definitely, the Caribbean vybz creator! This melodious sound emanating from simple cans has never reminded us so much of our own freshness. At the origin of this melody, Ellie Mannette (1927-2018) was a Trinidadian musician who, through his creations of wild rhythms, was far from being dissonant. This prodigy made his debut in music at the age of 11 by performing in a carnival band. The melody emanating from cans and seals fascinated him. He showed innovation by integrating the oil barrel as a new percussion instrument. Thus, the first "steel pan" was born. Over the years he perfected his skills in the field and even opened his own shop @mannette_instruments.  Master tuner, builder, teacher, Ellie Mannette became the pioneer of the steel band.
