Black sand or black diamonds?

Due to past volcanic activity, black sand is present on several Caribbean coastlines. When lava meets the sea, it explodes into tiny fragments of basalt (cooled volcanic magmatic rock) to form this sparkling black sand. Under the sun's rays, these beaches shine brightly, reminiscent of a treasure trove of tiny gemstones. Grey or deep black, black sand attracts more light than its white or golden counterpart and can therefore reach much higher temperatures. The most famous beaches in the Caribbean are Mt. Wynne Beach in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Black Bay in Grenada, Anse Noire in Martinique, Playa Negra in Puerto Rico, Rosalie Bay in Dominica, Anse salée in Guadeloupe and more.
